Gary Busey has been arrested "stemming from incidents" that took place at an annual Monster-Mania Convention in New Jersey, according to authorities.

The Cherry Hill Police Department said Busey, who is a 78-year-old actor, is facing the following charges:

  • Two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact
  • One count of fourth-degree criminal attempt/criminal sexual contact
  • One count of harassment - disorderly persons offense

Police said Busey was arrested on Friday following an investigation.

Police did not identify the suspect as the actor, giving an age and hometown that matched those of the actor.

Authorities said they responded to the event, which was held from August 12 through August 14, at the Doubletree Hotel at 2349 West Route 70 in Cherry Hill.

The actor was scheduled as a featured guest for all three days of the event.

"The investigation into this matter is ongoing," police said.

Busey is widely known as a character actor, largely in supporting roles, though he came to attention and was nominated for an Oscar for best actor for playing the title role in the 1978 film “The Buddy Holly Story.”

He also had roles in films such as "Lethal Weapon," "Predator 2," "Point Break," "Under Siege," as well as "Rookie of the Year," "The Firm," "Black Sheep," "Lost Highway," as well as "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas."

Authorities urged anyone who has information about the incident to contact Detective Robert Daniell at 856-432-8834.
